Wusthof Culinar 9-Inch Chrome Sharpening Steel

Elegant steel to match Culinar knives
A lot of people assume that all sharpening steels are the same. That is not true.

I have two Wusthof sharpening steels, including this one, which I've been using for about 6 years. Previously I used a generic steel for about 20 years. I usually hone my knives between every use. With my previous steel, it typically took 4-10 swipes to restore a razor edge, with occasional resharpening using an alumina (corundum) stone; with the Wusthof steels, I can get the same razor edge in 1-2 swipes, and normally never need to use the stone.

This is consistent with some hardness measurements I've seen on the web, which indicated that Wusthof sharpening steels were significantly harder than those from other major manufacturers, including their closest competitor, Henckels.

The tapered end on this steel facilitates a honing action where one pulls the knive toward the handle of the steel, rather than pushing away, conveniently alternating strokes between the two...

Le Creuset 2-3/4 Quart Round French Oven, Cherry

The George Clooney of Cookware
Like many people, after seeing "Julie & Julia" this summer I was inspired to cook hearty beef dishes, and had to have the gorgeous red cookware they used. I'd heard of Le Creuset before, but the price was off putting. But knowledgeable foodie friends insisted they were worth the price. Swoooooon! Now I'm such a believer. I didn't think it was possible to love a pot like I do this one. Everything cooks so beautifully, either on the stove, in the stove and I can still use it to store leftovers in the fridge. And when it's not cooking, I leave it sitting proudly on top because they're just so damn pretty. Another thing -- clean up. Easy. Every time I've used it was sure I was ruining the pot -- the food sticking to the interior would never come off, right? Not a problem! Easiest cleanup ever. I've only had the pot for a month or so, and I use it almost every week. It has everything -- looks, quality, and will last forever. It's the best investment you can make.

The ultimate in cooking equipment.
It makes cooking an experience in opulence even if you only boil potatoes in it.

Exceptional quality, exceptional guarantee.
I had this French Oven about six years. Super to use, easy to clean up. Soak and use a little baking soda on tough baked on spots. I boiled it dry (my bad) and the enamel coating cracked on the inside bottom. I contacted La Creuset, got a return ID, and they replaced it. They didn't have my color any more, but I love that they stand behind their product. SO happy to have my French Oven back!

Wusthof Grand Prix2 #4417 6 inch meat fork

Wuesthof Quality
When you have a finely made tool in your hand, you recognise it immediately. Looks and feels like lasting procision. Just what I have learned to expect from Wuesthof. You enjoy just holding it in your hand.

Carving Fork
Item shipped quickly and was packaged well. It was exactly as described. Would purchase from store again.

Great Meat Fork
Perfect weight, balance and finish. Great meat fork. What else is there to say? Highly recommended.

Wusthof Classic 10-Inch Ham-and-Roast Slicer

Still the best!
We've been purchasing Wusthof Classic knives for over 30 years. They are well made, properly weighted and hold an edge nicely. This purchase was for our adult daughter. The knife looks and functions exactly like the one we've owned since we've been married.

It is nice to find products that haven't lost their quality over the years. We highly recommend the Whusthof Classic line - but beware - Wusthof now makes a less expensive line, the Gourmet series. We were disappointed in how they performed as compared to the Classic knives.

Lenox Tuscany Classics Crystal Pitcher

Lenox Crystal Tuscany Classics Angle Pitcher
Beautiful product, but you need a lot of space to store it because of the angle

Very Nice
One of my sons had bought me a glass pitcher similar to this several years ago for Christmas; when it broke because it was thin glass, I was happy to find this one pictured. I was very pleasantly surprised at how heavy this is: when it's full, I'm happier to use both hands to carry it. The walls are quite thick. Because it's made of crystal, not lead crystal, this pitcher doesn't ring - several of the kids tried it to see. It holds about 1.5 quarts, and fits nicely in the refrigerator.

Elegant and practical - and beautiful!
This is more of a work of art than a pitcher, although as a pitcher it is perfectly balanced and works better than any pitcher I've ever owned. It's just very classy and I couldn't be happier!

Wonderful glasses!
These goblets are really stunning! They are nice and heavy, very well-balanced. They seem very durable, but we've been hand-washing them. They don't hold as much volume as some of my other wine glasses and it seems to always surprise me when I pour (or transfer from one glass to another).

Wusthof Classic 10-Inch Serrated Slicing Knife

Favorite Knife
I just love this knife. It's practically the only one I ever want to use in the kitchen. I consider it to be the perfect knife because the blade is the right length, the handle is perfection, and the balance is superb. Yes, it's pricey, but so well worth it.

Sent the wrong knife
It's not that I hated the knife, they just sent the wrong one. Wusthof knives are the best. We have a full set plus the steak knives and are very happy with them.

Wusthof Trident Classic Series Tomato Knives 4109-7

Sharp
This knife is terrific! It is very very sharp. I like my tomatoes sliced very thin and it does the job, excellently. The tomatoes don't get squished or butchered while slicing with this knife. The two prongs on the tip of the knife lift the slices perfectly to place on to wherever you want the thin slices to go. I couldn't ask for a better knife.

Really nice knife
As a dedicated tomato knife it functions very well. Cuts fast and clean. Great quality handle, blade, etal. It was an "I want it" purchase as opposed to "I have an great need for it" purchase. I like it and certainly recommend it.

wusthof classic is the best
The Wusthof Classic is a full tang knife. This means the metal blade goes all the way through the handle and makes for a much stronger knife. (This is not the case with the Wusthof Gourmet.) The knife is very sturdy and very sharp. The serrated edges and double-point end make it perfect for cutting difficult fruit such as tomatoes, plums, etc. I gave this to my german mother for Christmas and she was ecstatic.

Wusthof Classic-4.5" Parer

Expensive, but wonderful
I hate raw meat. I hate its fattiness and this had made filleting chicken breasts and trimming off the fat a breeze. I can't remember what life was like before this knife.

It's Wusthof...
Wusthof classic line, seen a lot of them and they're all amazing. Super sharp, great tip, good weight. I prefer this over the 3.5inch though.

Wusthof Classic 10-Inch Bread Knife

Go big
It's a Wusthof Classic, so it's got all the weight, balance, comfort and precision sharpness of the great German line. This is a great choice for all amateur & aspiring chefs, and many professionals.

The purpose of this review is to urge any shopper investing in a Wusthof bread knife to go for the full 10" length -- it makes a positive difference in leverage as you slice, and easily clears the diameter of virtually any boule, ciabatta, and other artisan loaves. The same principle applies to roasts and other meats, if you use your serrated knives for carving.

The length doesn't diminish anyone's ability to slice tomatoes, panini or any other foods, either. If you're going to spend $100+ on a quality bread knife, make your money go further with the 10" model.

Wusthof Classic Bread Knife
This is a great knife. It not only cuts bread like it's butter, but is also great for slicing tomatoes. No matter how thin you want to slice the tomato, this knife can do it.

Wusthof is cutting edge!!!
We bought the Wusthof 10" Bread Knife because it was recommended by Cook's Illustrated Magazine as the best serrated knife available on the market. My wife and I make homemade Italian country bread and the crust is thick and can be a trick to slice well. This Wusthof 10" bread knife cuts it easily into any thickness we want -- and takes much of the manual labor out of the job. We love our new bread knife and we would recommend it to anyone who makes and loves artisan breads.

Thanks, Amazon, for the great price on this great knife!

Sincerely,
Mickey & Marie Mussett

Wusthof 8-in. Classic Bread Knife.

never disappointed
I have yet to be disappointed with a wusthof knife. This one too, was sure to impress. Every knife in the "classic" series is perfectly balanced with a full tang. The bread knife slices through even the crustiest bread like it's pudding.

Expensive? Yes. But worth every penny!
Let's face it you can buy a break knife for alot less money. If you are looking for quality, nothing and I mean NOTHING beats a product made by Wusthof. This German Company knows cutting knives and they are not about to 'cut' quality/materials to sell the same type of competitive product for $19.99. TV commercially advertised products (especially the buy one get one) are junk. Like when was the last time you tried using your kitchen knife to cut a steel pipe or saw a 2x4 in half. You want the BEST...you can't miss with this product...Amazon knows and carries the right stuff.

Wusthof Classic 6-Inch Utility Knife

Wustof classic 6" utility knife - excellent!
This knife is superb. It completes my wood block of other Wustof knives perfectly. It is a size that I use every day.

a great kitchen knife
This knife fills a central place in my kitchen chef set, it's just long enough for slicing meats and short enough to be easy to manipulate with complex items.
It happens the vendor sent me the wrong knife, I had ordered a 6 inch serrated one, but I liked this one so much I kept it.
It's very sharp, and Wusthof knives stay that way.
For anyone serious about cooking, this is a good one.

My Favorite Wusthof
I have several Wusthof knives and this one is my favorite as I use it the most. It is the right size and shape for slicing tomatoes, lettuce, vegetables, meat and anything else. Wusthofs are expensive but of great quality. I do not wash mine in the dishwasher but clean each every time I use them and place them back in the block. I want them to last my whole life and I think they will.

Wusthof Classic 9-Inch Carving Knife

Another Wusthof classic to love
This long slicing knife has recently been added to my Wusthof knives and I am very pleased with the addition. This knife serves my needs when slicing large hams, roasts and other pieces of meat. It is large enough to do the job on a watermelon and still fits easily in my Wusthof knife block.

Wusthof knives are classic -- sturdy, well made, retain their edge and easy to hone or sharpen. A wonderful knife with a myriad of uses, I am happy with this new addition to my other Wusthof knives.

Love this knife!
I've tried other knives but this one is far superior. I would recommend this purchase.

Wusthof Classic 9-inch carving knife
I have used many knives over the past 35 years and was introduced to these knives by a German Neuropathologist. For me, Each knife lasts about 5 to 6 years before it is ground down too much in my experience. For a home owner would much longer. One to two times a week I sharpen them with Arkansas stones and then strop them. They hold an edge that would shave hair. I am switching over to Japanese stones as will give an even better edge. The steel is of excellent quality. The handles hold up to washing in a diswasher or autoclave. I have bought the knives with Ikon handles for my daughter. They are slightly easier to clean.

Wusthof 4419-7 Classic Serrated Salami Knife 6-in.

Excellent product as expected
We needed a small serrated knife to enhance our Wustof Classic knife set, which we have had for some time and love. Buying a single knife locally is very expensive. The price was terrific and the knife (Wusthof 4419-7 Classic Serrated Salami Knife 6-in.) seems to be up to the great quality of the rest of the set, as expected. Delivery was prompt. The knife could have been more carefully packaged as it was loose in "peanuts" with the tip extending slightly from the protective cardboard blade sheath, but no damage occurred.

Great knife -- not much can hold up to it
If you're looking at this knife, you probably know what you're getting into. It's a Wusthof Classic - forged, German, very high quality. Take care of it, and it'll last you a lifetime. I purchased this for cutting tomatoes (particularly the ones that we grew this year that have ridiculously thick skin), and it works beautifully at that - I can slice them as thin as I like. It'll do a great job with a salami as well. No complaints here -- I got better than what I paid for. The only caution to note is that I believe that the description has a typo in it -- I am pretty sure that the knife is a Wusthof 4119 (not 4419, there isn't a 4419 as far as I know). The knife is exactly as described and pictured, otherwise.

Wusthof Classic 12-Inch Long Slicing Knife

Excellent knife
I work at a sushi bar so I needed a knife that can easily cut through special rolls without messing up or squishing the toppings in 2 simple strokes.
Special rolls are hard to cut because they have to be covered with plastic wrap (this helps toppings from falling off the roll) and the knife
needs to cut through the plastic wrap and the roll very quickly.
The edge is really sharp, and grip and weight of the knife makes it comfortable to use.
I also have relatively new (less than a month old) Henckels Classic 8 inch slicing knife, and this Wusthof knife slices through rolls much better,
but that's to be expected since this knife costs almost 3 times more.

Only one thing I didn't like was the packaging.
It came with a cheap looking paper cover and it was taped to the handle. Even the much cheaper Henckel knife mentioned above came in a plastic packaging.
The tape was a pain to get off, and the sticky residue left behind from the tape is even...

Mauviel M'Heritage M250C 6504.26 10.5 Inch Round Frying Pan, Cast Iron Handle

Awesome Splurge
Dropped the $200 on this pan and I am not disappointed at all. You really have to be into cooking to appreciate what it is (you know who you are) but once you get it and use it you are so happy you bought it.

I use this pan for lot's of things and the one thing in commmon is that everything turns out just great. Crank up the heat, instant respone. Turn down the heat, instant response. It's an amazing metal copper, and really the best for cooking. I wish I had the guts to buy all the pans I need from Mauviel but for now this is my one little indulgence. All of my All Clad is still secure in that it won't be replaced by this stuff anytime soon. But who knows, one day maybe.....

useful copper skillet
From Mrs. CyberDad:

This item was a gift during the winter holiday season, so this review covers several months of use, on a gas stove in a home kitchen.

First, this is a heavy skillet, so don't expect to do any light-hearted tossing of ingredients. Heat control, as expected in copper, is excellent. If you are browning onions, for example, you can shut down the heat precisely when you want them to stop browning. There is no "retained heat" to continue the cooking process.

Second, this is not a skillet for the dishwasher. However, it cools so quickly after cooking that it can be hand-washed almost immediately. (The handle retains heat longer than the pan--and you will need to use a potholder.) A quick swish with a sponge and soapy water, rinsing and towel-drying, and the pan is ready to use again. Because of the quick cool-down time, there is very little trouble with burned-on food.

Third, I haven't bothered to polish this pan, and...

Excellent!!!
I purchased this to be used exclusively as an omlet pan. It is a bit heavy, but perfectly balanced. The copper conducts heat evenly up through the sides of the pan. Not only is it perfectly functional it is beautiful hanging on my pot rack. I chose this brand because I refuse to cook on tin or aluminum and this is stainless steel lined. PERFECT!!!! I am looking to add more Mauviel products to collection.

great wok
My wife and I love this Mauviel wok. Of all of our Mauviel cookware, this one gets used most frequently as the wok is such a flexible cooking device. The copper construction allows for very even heating which makes cooking a joy. The bronze handles are fairly lightweight (compared to the cast iron handles on our other Mauviel) which makes this wok maneuverable. The small flat bottom is perfect for holding the wok upright when our hands need a rest. And the second "helper handle" opposite the main handle is perfect for any extra positioning you need to do.

So far we are very pleased with all of our Mauviel purchases and expect a lifetime of use from them.

Lenox Wedding Promises Opal Innocence Swan Caketopper

Soft and beautiful
One year before we were married, my husband didn't have a lot of money and for my birthday he gave me a tiny crystal figurine with swans and told me this precious story about how swans mate for life.. it was so touching and sentimental. When planning our wedding, we were totally against the traditional bride/groom cake toppers and were going to go without one, until we saw this one. Most mating swan figurines play too much on the perfect "heart" shape with the necks, and this one is so much more natural and so very intimate and beautiful. Its design is timeless and will be an heirloom for sure.

One thing you will have to plan for is that it is on an oval base, which could be tricky for cake designers. We had a square cake and had it at an angle.

It was packed very nicely and survived shipping very well!

Wusthof Classic 2-3/4-Inch Trimming Knife

Best tiny knife I've ever used
I make lots of apple pies, and last winter when I traveled around the country I made pies for about 20 different hosts. Compared to the many other knives I borrowed to slice and core apples, this one was so good that it was almost like I could cut apples just by holding the knife and looking at them. When I got home I bought one for myself.

My Go-to Knife for all Paring Tasks
This knife was a gift from my daughter, and of the two small knives in my set, this is the one I reach for the most. The size and balance are perfect, and the shape of the trimming blade is ideal for all small paring and trimming tasks.

I do not put this or any of my knives in the dishwasher, although I've seen a reference that they are dishwasher-proof.

I love the quality of the Wusthof Classic series. This trimming knife is no exception.

I love my knives
If you ever decide to splurge in the kitchen and you love to cook, get your self a good set of knives. I love my wusthof knives and use them many times daily. I can't imagine going back to the hodge-podge of knives that I used to use!

I purchased this particular knife for my Dad for Father's day because the 10 piece set that I bought for them for Christmas didn't have a good paring knife.

I bought just the Santoku knife about 10 years ago now. I have a culinary degree and worked in restaurants all across the US including the Las Vegas Strip and this knife has been with me the entire time. The important things you should know about this knife is that it has a full tang, which means the blade goes through the handle and is one piece.

It is also stamped, not forged. Stamped knives are made by taking a piece of metal and "stamping" out the shape of the blade. A forged knife is one where they heat/fold the steel multiple times for strength. I also own a forged Santoku that was double the price, but only use it for butchering. The reason being a stamped blade is much thinner than a forged blade due to how it is manufactured. As a result, a forged blade is better for things such as quartering a chicken.

As a result, I used this stamped blade 90% of the time. The blade is thinner than a forged knife and I can cut perfect tomato slices and other...

Delonghi EMK6 Alicia Electric Moka Espresso Coffee Maker

Excellent coffee -- read update ;-)
1/20/06 First reviewed: I received this as a gift and had about twenty wonderful cups of moka from this cute little electric machine, but then one day in the third week of ownership, steam went a'flyin outside of the moka maker instead of into the top chamber. I called customer service and was given a run-around, ugh. I was told that without a receipt I could buy the replacement unit for around $40 plus shipping. She said that most of their products have a 30 or 60 day warranty, which surprised me greatly. Since I'd owned the product for less than 30 days, I figured I was still in the warranty time any way one looked at it, but I was wrong. With no receipt, no exchange from DeLonghi. Well, I tried to use the unit after really tightening the top and bottom together and the escaping steam abated. The next week, the shut off valve on the heating unit started making a terrible noise and the unit wouldn't even start. It would be triggered within a few seconds to shut off, so I had...

It has a big flaw, but I love it anyway
I'm on my 2nd Electric Moka machine. The first one died when the plastic piece on top cracked near the handle and it began to leak. I realize now that it cracked from tightening the top piece by rotating the plastic handle rather than grabbing the metal mid-section. I also realize that I began tightening it extra tight when the rubber washer inside started to wear out. So that's the deal. Replace the washer when it gets ragged and don't screw the pot together with the plastic handle. Do these two things and the machine will last ages. BTW, it makes FANTASTIC espresso, is easy to clean, is compact and very cute. I love it!!!

Effective, compact
What I initially liked about this machine is the fact that I could use it off the stovetop and it really is not a counter hog--I bought it for my office, actually. I was surprised at how piping hot the coffee can get in it. All in all, it works well. Realize, too, this moka brew is definately a step down in flavor from traditionally brewed espresso (from a pump-driven machine). I recommend it.

Emerilware by Wusthof 17-Slot Knife Storage Block

Poor quality for the price
Received this today. Disappointed in the finish work. Edges are rough, as are the insides of the knife slots- several of the knives caught on bits of wood as I slid them in. The grain and color of the wood pieces is poorly matched and there is an odd grey square of wood next to one of the slots that appears to be a repair or patch. Also, the last two letters of the "wusthof" logo stamped on the front are so faint as to be unreadable. I'm wondering if I received a knockoff or factory second. In any case, I will return it and shop for this item locally where I can inspect before buying.

Wrong Item In Right Box
The box I received had a label on the outside for the 17 Slot Block. I opened it up to find a 15 Slot Block, meaning it was short 2 steak knife slots to what I wanted/ordered. This was a gift and met the requirements for a negligible price difference so I just said "screw it" and did not bother with a return. Function-wise this product would receive 5 stars; I mean, it's a block of wood...knives go in it, so it does that job, however I would not order from Market Warehouse Inc again. To sum it up. Wusthof knife block of any size = good. Market Warehouse Inc selling = bad.

Poor quality
Read the good reviews and thought that this was the right one for me. It had enough slots for my needs. After receiving and during the process of putting in the knives, I noticed that my chef knife caught something while being put into the block. Took my flashlight and look inside. The bottom portion inside the slot had a wood sheet that split off from the rest and appeared to be the result of poor drilling/shaving. Very poor quality. Returning the item...

Wusthof Classic 10-Inch Super Slicer

Great For Breads Or Meats
This is a great all-around slicer. We've used it on very soft, moist cakes and breads - both soft and crusty.

But, thanks to a sharp edge and the length, it does a great job on meats. It breezes right through a London Broil and does a beautiful job slicing up an entire beef tenderloin into individual filet mignons. Sharp enough and long enough that you can usually complete a cut in a single stroke, providing a cleaner cut. I even tried it on a turkey last Thanksgiving and it worked great.

One really nice feature of this blade over many other slicers (including some other Wüsthofs) is that it is scalloped on only one side, so you can still take it to a steel between professional sharpenings.

Amazing, super sharp
This amazing knife breezes through super hard, crusty day old bread, making sharp clean cuts. It is long and wide enough to cut beautiful cake layers. This is one awesome knife. I bought it on Amazon, but wish I had shopped around a little first, I would have saved $30.

sturdy go-to workhorse for large items
Often enough there's a watermelon or big round loaf of bread or turkey or some other thing that's broad enough that I can't quite get any of my "regular" knives through it in one downward motion. It's awkward when you have to cut things by halves, trying to meet in the middle, etc. Or sometimes I just need the leverage of a long blade for some reason. That's when I turn to my super slicer. It has yet to be bested by anything in my particular kitchen. It cuts great, is sturdy, sharp, menacing even. I love it.

Lots of Room
When this came in it was a perfect size. Lots of room for everything. My friend I bought it for had a knife set of 16 Wusthof's and it fit in this perfectly.

Made a Great Gift
Got this for my guy, he's a chef that travels a lot as part of a catering service. He was asking for something smaller but I wanted him to have room for all his tools, not just his knives. I think I made the right decision, he's filled it with all sorts of utensils -- peelers, cutters, thermometers-- it even has an area for papers. It's a nice quality material -- very strong -- and I was impressed with it's compartments and layers for holding whatever a chef on the go needs! Seems it's only limit will be the combined weight when full because it does hold a lot. To quote my boyfriend, "It's bloody awesome!"

The knife bag was just as beautiful as pictured and the design and pockets are wonderful. However, it did NOT come with a strap, as pictured.

Wusthof Classic 8-Inch Deli Knife

Move this one up on your priority list
I put off puchasing this knife for a long time, I knew I wanted it and it would make sandwich cutting a bit easier and I wouldnt bang my knuckles on the board anymore, but I procrastinated and put it off.

Now that I have this knife, I am disapointed I allowed myself to wait this long. This knife is amazing. It is not just a fancier version of the bread knife. This thing is in a whole different class when it comes to cutting breads. My old bread knife (also a Wushtof) is like trying to use a butter knife when compared to using this one. Add to that the benefit of it being more comfortable and the offset making it easier to use, and you have a real winner in this knife.

This knife puts a regular bread knife to shame and, unlike your bread knife, can be used for more than just cutting bread. The name Deli Knife is perfect for this knife. It cuts cheeses and hard deli meats effortlessly. It will blaze through a tall deli sandwich effortlessly without crushing...

Excellent multi-purpose knife
I have a fairly substantial collection of knives and this is becoming one of my favorites. The Wusthof classic line, some of which I've had for over 25 years, just seem to go on forever and still look great. Its scalloped blade makes short work of any breads, party subs, bagels, tomatoes, pot roast, ham--anything needing slicing with a touch precise enough to slice thinly without tearing. The offset construction provides a more secure grip and control for whatever slicing task is at hand. It's far from inexpensive, but when considering it multi-tasks as a tomato/bread/sandwich/slicer and carver(I'd use it carefully with boned meats to avoid any chance of dulling the edge),it was money well spent.

Wusthof knife - GREAT
This is one knife in a long list of Wushof knifes (around 20) I have bought for my wife. She loves the knife just like all the other but really likes the offset handle when she cuts bread or sandwich. She doesn't have to slide the bread or sandwich to the edge of the table to cut it any more.

Wusthof Gourmet 10-Inch Hollow-Ground Roast-Beef Slicer

A very good buy
NIcely balanced and the perfect size, very good for slicing. I love the round nose as it makes it easier to handle. Unlike serrated blades the smooth, hollow-ground edge doesn't leave any ragged edges. I've mostly been slicing flank steaks with it. I can't wait to try it on Thanksgiving!

Roast Carver
The knife truly carves roast beef very well at a reasonable price. This is an excellent knife.

Awesome
This knife is awesome. Cuts tri-tip perfectly. This is the carving knife I have waited a long time for.

Wusthof 7-Piece Garnishing Tool Kit

Substitutions Possible
I'm a culinary student heading to my culinary artistry class soon and I wanted this kit for making garnishes. Everything looks good but they inserted a bird's beak peeling knife instead of the butter curler.

Great little garnishing kit.
I purchased this garnishing kit to use at work about 6 months ago. I love it!! my only complaint is that is came with a bird beak paring knife instead of the butter curler that is shown in the picture.

Wusthof 7-Piece Garnishing Tool Kit
I am a Pastry Chef, however I also cater other events and since I already own the Wusthof knives, I thought this was the only set for me! The pieces are great and will come in handy no matter what your level of expertise! I received this item in excellent condition and on time as promised! I would highly recommend this seller!

Metrokane Wing Machine Corkscrew

Very heavy, very strange!!!
I am struggling trying to find the best wine opener....so far so bad.

I bought this and figured it would do its job well.....wow was I wrong.

First - this thing weighs as much as some full wine bottles....

Second its very confusing in how it works with its latching system....

I tried it on 2-3 bottles and just ended up going back to my $5 solution to open bottles.

If you are looking for something that looks cool then this item is for you... However, if you are a casual wine drinker at home, then this is probably not something you need....any cork screw will work fine.

3/5 in my humble opinion.

Get that cork outta here
This gadget looks space age and will extract a cork as advertised. That positive comment doesn't address what happens when the bottler changes to synthetic "corks." The screw enters as usual but when you attempt to push down on the wings the bottle starts spinning. The solution is to hold the wings and the neck of the bottle (contortionists please apply) and press the wings until the "cork" comes out. This one was designed for real corks and if your bottles always have such you'll be quite happy with the Metrokane.

Metokana Wing Machine Corkscrew a Bust
I was very disappointed with the way this product performed. It does not seat properly on the top of the bottle, thus the screw enters the cork off center making pulling difficult and resulting with a ruin cork with cork particles inside the bottle.

Sharp R-930AK 1-1/2-Cubic Feet 900-Watt Convection Microwave, Black

This could be your only oven.
Wow, after reading the other reviews I had to throw my 2 cents in. It's big all right but that's the only point I have in agreement with the other reviewers.

I've had the R-930CS for almost a year. It really lives up to what Sharp says it does. It bakes, broils and microwaves -- all well! I use it to cook meat and it's done a great job on steaks, fresh sausage and chicken.

It also has a nifty feature called Sensor Cook, which is intelligent microwaving. It works for a number of foods including vegetables, frozen entrees and hot dogs. I use it for hot dogs, actually frozen hot dogs. I had no idea how long to cook a frozen hot dog. Not a problem. Slap a couple on a plate, hit Sensor Cook - Hot Dog and the oven does the rest. They come out perfect.

Would I get this oven if I just needed a microwave? Of course not. ( I'm not even sure what you use a 1.5 cubic foot microwave for.) But if you need a microwave and a regular oven all in a...

Good cooking but a few problems
I have been using this product for 2 years. The cooking results are good and food preparation is speedy. However the turntable motor is of very poor quality (weak plastic gears) so make sure to stay even below the listed food weight limit. I had to replace the motor in my oven (52 bucks if you find the part and do it yourself, otherwise about 140). Also the door and some other parts are not aligned properly. One other review I found on the Net had the same complains about this product quality, in particular the turntable motor was faulty and had to be replaced as well.

Great for cakes!
I was hesitant to purchase this unit after seeing the less than stellar reviews posted here, but I decided to give it a try anyway. So far, it does everything that it is advertised as being able to do. I made a devil's food bundt cake and it came out bakery moist, not dried out as I usually get from my regular electric oven. The control panel is intuitive and it has many useful features. The unit is larger and heavier than I expected, but it does have a fairly impressive interior volume. I like the high and low interior racks which allows you to bake two 9" cakes pans simultaneously. I checked the interior temperature of the oven with a professional grade oven thermometer, and it was within a few degrees of the stated temperature. Overall, this seems like a versatile and useful appliance. I hope that reliability is not an issue. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Chef's Choice M416 Diamond Hone 12-Inch Diamond Sharpening Oval Steel

WOW!
I also own a Chef's Choice electric sharpening system that always does a good job, but this little guy has become my favorite. It is capable of sharpening and honing to razor sharpness. What's not to love about that!

knife hone
This handy knife honer does a great and fast job of sharpening. The first time it is used it takes some time to condition the knife blade, but thereafter, just a few swipes and the knife is dangerously sharp...so whatch out!

Works well, handy
Product works as described. You can sharpen any sized knife. FYI-the stone is 12" long, but handle adds at least 5 more inches.

Built-in Kit (Black Plastic Trim) (Sharp RK51) (MICACC RK51)

Replaced old Sharp R5A53 w/RK81 trim kit
After 19 years, had to replace our old Sharp R5A53 microwave which was installed in wall cabinet using a RK81 trim kit. Purchased new RK-530EK (or EKT, they're the same) so purchased the RK-51 trim kit. Installation of the RK-51 wasn't too tough overall (I'm not a pro, but know which end of a screw driver and power drill to use). Couple things to keep in mind if you're going to use the RK-51 trim kit.

The trim kit includes a sheet metal ventalation duct (it's like a little shelf/stand) which slides into the bottom of the opening. The microwave then sits in on top of this shelf/stand/duct. The duct get secured into the cabinet/wall opening, you sit the microwave in on top, then you mount the trim around the front. The trim actually comes as four pieces (top, bottom, then two sides), not a single surround like my old RK-81 trim kit which I replaced. There are 6 screws which end up securing everything to the wall. As the screws provided are pretty long (over an inch),...

Sharp RK-51 Microwave "Built-In" kit:
We have our Sharp microwave installed in a wall-cabinet and didn't like the "unfinished" look of the appliance sitting on a shelf. We purchased the Sharp RK-51 kit to finish the installation. While it was a fairly straight-forward matter to install, I'm not overly impressed with the functionality of the product. The trim pieces surrounding the oven restrict the full-opening of the over-door to about 60-degrees, which presents conflicts when loading items. Our oven is chest-high, and the inability to fully open the oven-door makes what should be a simple task a bit of a struggle; you need one hand free to "hold the door open". The installation looks much nicer, but the trim-kit makes using the appliance less functional as I would have expected.

Sharp RK51
The Sharp RK51 arrived as promised. The quality and fit was as advertised. It was easy to install once the new microwave arrived. A previous reviewer wrote that they had a problem opening the door once they install the trim kit. I didn't find that to be the case here.

I would recommend the Sharp Trim Kit to friends.

Pfaltzgraff Snow Bear 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4

Pleasing to the eye as well as the pocketbook !
In true Pfaltzgraff tradition, this set does not fail to delight the eye as well as the pocketbook! The bowls are generous - not the dainty bowls so often seen with other dinnerware sets, and also included are nicely sized mugs - just perfect for coffee or hot cocoa. The design makes it perfect not only for Christmas, but for use all through the winter months. Also, since the design is available in open stock, there are numerous pieces that can be added to your Snow Bear collection. And the Amazon price for this set simply can't be beaten !!

I use them all year!
Besides the fact that I'm terrible about putting things away for the "season", I use these plates all year long! I especially like the mugs - I feel they keep my coffee warmer a lot longer than a normal mug and they're nice and heavy and solid feeling. Plus the bears really cheer me up in the morning!

Birthday Gift was a hit
I bought this for my sister for her birthday. She complimented me several times and everyone that came over raved about these dishes. I have never in my life received so many compliments over a birthday gift. They were very impressed with the quality. I haven't seen them myself as of yet but I can tell you that this was one birthday gift that will stay in memory.

Chef's Choice M2000 Commercial Diamond Hone Sharpener

Stands up to time
I have finally ordered a replacement sharpening cartridge for my Chef's Choice 2000 model, after nearly ten years of good service. I have used this in a commercial kitchen, before my retirement, and for keeping my home knives sharpened. Amazon was not even on the horizon when I purchased my unit, and I do not remember where I bought it, but the sharpener has served me well over the years. This unit may not have the flexible strop of the newer unit, and may not produce the true razor sharp edge of it's younger brother, but this is a great unit. Finally wore out the sharpeners enough that they are not producing the edge they used to, but they have lasted over ten years. I figure this unit has saved me several thousand dollars, plus quite a few knives, and of course time lost driving back and forth to somebody to sharpen my knives, and generally get them back a week later.

Great investment! Probably give this to the grand kids when I can no longer cook...

Knife Sharpener
I liked this model and it's perfect for my personal needs, plus I showed my wife how to use it properly. I am a Disabled combat Vietnam Veteran: 68-70, and an edged weapons expert, so I know what works and what don't. Just wondering what the next larger, more powerful size is, and how much $$$ ? I rate this model 5 stars! --Tom Schuckman

HA SH R-530EW WHITE 1200 WATT (Sharp R530EW) (MICOVEN R530EW)

Sharp hits home run
This is the best Microwave we have ever owned. The last Sharp lasted 10 years but cost twice as much and did not come close to this one.

We tried an experiment with the Sensor setting and cooked a piece of Tilapia in the regular oven and the other filet in the Sharp 530 following the one screen help menu. The Microwave fish was tastier and more moist and cooked in 1/2 the time of the oven.

The sensor works wonders with reheating and defrosting and we find we are using it more than we ever used the older one.

I have recommended it to several co-workers and friends who are in the market for a great microwave at a super price.

Sharp Microwave R-530EW
The Sharp microwave is a fine product. It is easy to use, attractive in appearance, easy to clean, and usually well made. My particular experience is not typical. I had the misfortune to get one with a loose plate over the magnetron tube, and it buzzes when turned on. Contact with the company was competent, and required me to take it to a nearby city to have it looked at. I will do so when I can find someone to help me. Meantime, I have learned that the buzzing is not harmful, just irksome. I have used Sharp microwaves before and always found them excellent.

Had a Sharp R-530BW, bought the Sharp R-530EW
I loved my 12 year old Sharp R-530BW, but continual steam use (cleaning baby bottles in Medela Quick-Zip Steam bags) caused it to rust in the interior seams over a 4 year period (between my two children).

I'm now resolved to wipe down the interior after steaming, however, I hated giving up the microwave I loved.

Looked at other microwaves on the market...yuck...this one had everything I needed.

So I was really happy to see that Sharp had a newer model of it, and it does everything and more. This is a really excellent microwave. I use all the features regularly (baked potato, popcorn, frozen veggies, defrost ground meat, chicken, soups, etc.).

What can I say more than that, I loved it so much the first time, I bought another when it wore out. No better testimonial.

Smart and stylish design
Babell is an excellent example that a kitchen item can be functional and a pleasure to look at.

Functionality:
- lots of space for cakes, fruits, appetizers, sushi, etc.
- easy to clean
- can be disassembled into three units for space-saving storage or for use as three separate, easy-to-carry dishes
- safe in families with small children and pets

Looks:
- modern
- fun
- in black color, has certain drama and elegance.

Looks great and very functional
It took forever for this to finally arrive after I purchased it, but it was worth the wait. It looks great and is very functional. It holds fruit when not in more specific use. And the fact that it packs up into itself is very handy.

Modern and very useful
The quality of the product is GREAT! Easy to put together and take apart to wash. Holds a good amount of weight for stuff like, brownies, fruits, etc.

Maple End Grain Chopping Block 20 x 15 x 3 1/2

Glad I waited till I found this.
This was exactly what I was looking for. Super fast surface, heavy so it doesn't slide, and a real nice width and depth. It doesn't mark overly easy either. The height works perfect on my countertop that I don't have that slight bend in my back like I had with other thinner boards. That was something very important for me when selecting a board. My knees and back are thankful. What a difference that bit of extra height makes. If you place a dry paper towel underneath it not only protects the countertop but further helps with the weight for ZERO board movement while in use. Once you treat the board with the proper oil, the colors really pop. It looks fantastic. As a long time foodie and now an older culinary student, I had the patience, stubborness, and money to search for the right tool till if found it. This is it. I bought it a month ago and I literally use this everyday at home. I have no regrets other than it took me so long to find this. It is a permanent fixture for our...

Beautiful Block
The block was beautiful. No blemishes on the surface like some others mentioned and my son (a chef) was very pleased. Prior to ordering I looked at other blocks in a store and this one was much less expensive, larger AND the surface was prettier. Highly recommend.

Very pleased
I was very surprised that the quality of this chopping was better than expected. I am happy to have found it.
