Wusthof Culinar 9-Inch Chrome Sharpening Steel

Elegant steel to match Culinar knives
A lot of people assume that all sharpening steels are the same. That is not true.

I have two Wusthof sharpening steels, including this one, which I've been using for about 6 years. Previously I used a generic steel for about 20 years. I usually hone my knives between every use. With my previous steel, it typically took 4-10 swipes to restore a razor edge, with occasional resharpening using an alumina (corundum) stone; with the Wusthof steels, I can get the same razor edge in 1-2 swipes, and normally never need to use the stone.

This is consistent with some hardness measurements I've seen on the web, which indicated that Wusthof sharpening steels were significantly harder than those from other major manufacturers, including their closest competitor, Henckels.

The tapered end on this steel facilitates a honing action where one pulls the knive toward the handle of the steel, rather than pushing away, conveniently alternating strokes between the two...

Le Creuset 2-3/4 Quart Round French Oven, Cherry

The George Clooney of Cookware
Like many people, after seeing "Julie & Julia" this summer I was inspired to cook hearty beef dishes, and had to have the gorgeous red cookware they used. I'd heard of Le Creuset before, but the price was off putting. But knowledgeable foodie friends insisted they were worth the price. Swoooooon! Now I'm such a believer. I didn't think it was possible to love a pot like I do this one. Everything cooks so beautifully, either on the stove, in the stove and I can still use it to store leftovers in the fridge. And when it's not cooking, I leave it sitting proudly on top because they're just so damn pretty. Another thing -- clean up. Easy. Every time I've used it was sure I was ruining the pot -- the food sticking to the interior would never come off, right? Not a problem! Easiest cleanup ever. I've only had the pot for a month or so, and I use it almost every week. It has everything -- looks, quality, and will last forever. It's the best investment you can make.

The ultimate in cooking equipment.
It makes cooking an experience in opulence even if you only boil potatoes in it.

Exceptional quality, exceptional guarantee.
I had this French Oven about six years. Super to use, easy to clean up. Soak and use a little baking soda on tough baked on spots. I boiled it dry (my bad) and the enamel coating cracked on the inside bottom. I contacted La Creuset, got a return ID, and they replaced it. They didn't have my color any more, but I love that they stand behind their product. SO happy to have my French Oven back!

Wusthof Classic 10-Inch Ham-and-Roast Slicer

Still the best!
We've been purchasing Wusthof Classic knives for over 30 years. They are well made, properly weighted and hold an edge nicely. This purchase was for our adult daughter. The knife looks and functions exactly like the one we've owned since we've been married.

It is nice to find products that haven't lost their quality over the years. We highly recommend the Whusthof Classic line - but beware - Wusthof now makes a less expensive line, the Gourmet series. We were disappointed in how they performed as compared to the Classic knives.

Lenox Tuscany Classics Crystal Pitcher

Lenox Crystal Tuscany Classics Angle Pitcher
Beautiful product, but you need a lot of space to store it because of the angle

Very Nice
One of my sons had bought me a glass pitcher similar to this several years ago for Christmas; when it broke because it was thin glass, I was happy to find this one pictured. I was very pleasantly surprised at how heavy this is: when it's full, I'm happier to use both hands to carry it. The walls are quite thick. Because it's made of crystal, not lead crystal, this pitcher doesn't ring - several of the kids tried it to see. It holds about 1.5 quarts, and fits nicely in the refrigerator.

Elegant and practical - and beautiful!
This is more of a work of art than a pitcher, although as a pitcher it is perfectly balanced and works better than any pitcher I've ever owned. It's just very classy and I couldn't be happier!
