Zojirushi CD-LCC30 Micom 3.0-Liter Electric Dispensing Pot

Better than a tea kettle!
I just received this for Christmas, it's something I've wanted for a while. Ever since my tea kettle died of old age, I've been boiling water for tea with a regular sauce pan and what usually happens is I forget all about it and only remember after it has been boiling for a while. Also, I didn't like the long wait for hot water. I want instant gratification! And now I have it with this Zojirushi dispensing pot. It's perfect since I'm an avid tea drinker, consuming several pots of tea each day.

A long long time ago, I used to have the "air pot" style dispensing pot where you just press on the top and it pumps out water. This one is a much newer design and dispensing is handled electronically. What I like is the "safety" feature which was lacking in the old "air pot" styles. You have to press the "unlock" button before the "dispensing" button which prevents accidentally dispensing hot water. You can set this to keep water at 205

Zojirushi Micom 3.0-Liter Electric Airpot Water Boiler, White

air pump wears out
We own one for over 6 years now. Love it. Only problem is that because it's mechanical (air pump), that eventually wears out. I think the seal in the pump need replacing. It used to to fill a cup with just one pump, but now takes 10 or more pumps.

Other than that, I love it. I am looking at purchasing a new one, the kind that uses electric pump.

I had some concerns and now I love this thing
I bought the electric air pot to address a number of issues that needed attention: I wanted to minimize the use of the microwave as much as possible, and I wanted to replace a diet soda pop habit with more healthful drinks. I had an electric kettle, but it was plastic and could not keep water warm throughout the day. I used to have a regular kettle, but I have lupus with some cognitive issues, and that kind of forgetfulness just doesn't mix too well with stove top cooking. I trashed two regular kettles before I got that one through my head.

After getting this product, I am wondering what I ever did without it. I no longer worry about carcinogen exposure from heating water in plastic. The air pot has a nonstick interior, but all of the research I looked at indicated that if there is any risk from unscratched nonstick surfaces, it happens only at temperatures over 350 degrees. Water boils at 212 degrees. Additionally, the interior of the air pot is well-constructed,...

hot and energy efficient
In short I found this airpot to provide nice hot water and be energy efficient too though I have only been testing it out for several days. As I say below, at 14.7 cents per kilowatt it uses $48.93/year. Now to be more verbose...

After completing the boil and having the water maintained at 208, I decided to check it out with a thermometer. I poured a cup and stuck the probe in, but my digital food thermometer only showed about 170F so I tried another one with similar results. Finally, I just made my self some coffee and it was nice and hot even after adding milk so so much for my thermometers. The only things I have to compare this to are my old airpot (5.5 quarts = 5.2 liters) and my 1500W electric kettle. Compared to my old airpot this one is amazing as my old one had the water barely hot. Compared to my kettle it obviously is not as hot since the kettle gives you freshly boiled water, though you can still add a bit of milk to the water from this airpot and enjoy a...

Zojirushi CD-LCC40 Micom 4.0-Liter Electric Dispensing Pot

A Must-Have for Tea Drinkers
I switched from coffee to tea a few months ago, purchased this unit and am completely happy with it ... I can't recommend it highly enough. It's well made, ergonomic, well thought out, and a joy to use. The Japanese think of everything. A Japanese friend of mine told me that homes in Japan almost always have one of these units, or one like it. Now that I drink only tea, I can understand why.

The three temperature settings (well, four if you count boiling) are perfect. 208 is good for herbal teas, tissanes, and also the increasingly popular (and wonderful) Rooibos. That's also a good temperature for ramen, oatmeal, etc. 195 is good for black tea and also oolong, and 175 is good for green tea or white tea. Now, you can make gourmet tea properly with no muss and no fuss. Just get yourself some gourmet loose tea, herbal tea, or Rooibos, (all available from Garrett, Adagio, or Teavana), and a convenient brewer, like "IngenuiTea" from Adagio (Teavana also makes a good...

I love this pot - updated
I have always been a tea drinker, and after my last tea kettle broke (again!), I did some looking and came across this pot. It's not a cheap pot, but I blessed the day it came into my house. I can't boil the pot dry--it would shut down anyway, and this was important. It really does dechlorinate, so when I start to taste a little chlorine in the water again I empty the pot out and refill it completely, which takes care of it. For as much as I use this pot, day in and day out, a number of cups of tea a day, I appreciate it every time I use it. The water is always piping hot (I really hate tepid tea) when I want it, no waiting for a kettle to boil. It has a 7 hour timer so it can be turned off at night and when I get up in the morning there's hot water waiting. I could wish it had been priced a little lower, but I would not want to sacrifice the quality for a lower price.

UPDATE: I've now had this pot close to 5 years. There is now one small spot of rust about the size of a...

Great for tea drinkers
Just bought this pot. It is amazing. I'm going to use it at work where I have to go down stairs all the time to boil water. I can fill this on Monday and it should give me on-demand hot water for three to four days right in my office. It makes it easier to drink more tea.

This hot pot is pure Japanese. Everything has been cleverly thought out. It is well contructed and it works great. The panorama water level indicator is very cool. Don't worry about the non-stick coating, it's safe. There's a slight learning curve to using the pot, but it becomes intuitive very quickly. This pot is meant to be left on continuously, but you can shut it down for seven hours with the timer feature.

This is a great item with Japanese quality and inovation throughout. I highly recommend it.
