Oneida Torsade 5-Piece Individual Place Setting

Wonderful everday flatware!
My husband and I chose this as our wedding pattern for everyday, and we love it! After 4 years, it still looks the same as the day we bought it-- no scratches or swirls like other brands.

This is a nice pattern to hold, as well. It feels good in your hand and curves with your hand-- some of the other patterns we tried did not. It's a good weight, too-- a sturdy piece, but not overbearingly heavy like others.

I have all the pieces of this pattern, and not only is a nice to look at, but it's affordable. I highly recommend it to everyone needing a good, elegant but simple everyday pattern.

Oneida Satin Astragal 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

Beautiful flatware, great shipping speed
I received this flatware as a wedding gift 12 years ago. I only had 8 place-settings, and I've always wanted to someday get 4 more to make it 12. I recently learned that this pattern was retired by Oneida and that I couldn't order anymore directly from then since I hadn't registered with them. How nice to find that Choice Home Goods still had the 5 piece place settings so that I could complete my set! Thank you! They shipped it quickly and for free! I LOVE my flatware!

Oneida Stiletto 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

Love the pattern,,,, But
Love this pattern but when I originally bought it from Oneida it was suppose to be a pattern that was never to end if a piece was lost. Well guess what within my period of owning this pattern it was discontinued leaving me to buy extra pieces from where I could find them. Learning from my mistakes or others.

Beautiful Place Setting at a Great Price!
After owning this particular Oneida stainless pattern since 1985, I decided to get the last few place settings to complete my service. I was very pleased to get this setting, NIB, at such a great price! The shipping was reasonable and quick, and the product quality was excellent. I definitely recommend this seller, and I would purchase from them again. A++++ all the way!

Oneida Dover 5-Piece Place Setting
I love this set. The quality is excellent. We have had the original set since the 80's with no problems. Some pieces were inadvertently thrown in the garbage. That is the reason for the extra place setting.

I can bend the knife!
I ordered this set to figure out if I wanted to register for it for our upcoming wedding. I grew up with Oneida flatware - the pattern my folks had, Satinique, was discontinued and Oneida suggests this as a close match.

In design, yes, it is a close match. The set is marked 18/10 and is nice with the exception of the knife. First, it feels light and hollow - it's lighter than the other pieces which makes no sense since it's made of the most material. I see no marking on it indicating it's Oneida, let alone 18/10. Astonished, I tried to bend the blade and it definately gives under little pressure. (Not a full bend, but a knife shouldn't flex). Looking more closely at the designs along the handle, it almost appears that black paint was used to create depth, as opposed to actual molds.

I'm curious to see if ordering directly from Oneida yields a better product, or if there is just a lapse in quality. 18/10 - lies! My cheap set from Target is better quality.

Oneida Juilliard 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

Best Silverware I've used
This is the best silverware I've used. It even stands up to the "eating-out-of-the-carton-of-hard-ice-cream" test without bending. We have had 8 place settings for 9 years and they still look like new (except the one that went down the disposal).

Timeless Pattern
Juilliard is the best patten for both casual and fine dinning. It never goes out of style and it matches so well with any decor. It is the price point it is for a reason...worth every penny you pay! Beautiful and great, great quality! I have had this pattern for over 20 years and I just keep adding to it and you can't tell the new pieces from the ones I started with years ago. Unbelievable value!

Juilliard is a very elegant design
I appreciate the simple elegance of the Juilliard design. It is not too ornate and not too plain, rather, just the right amount of decorative flair. Too, the utensils feel balanced and of a comfortable weight. I purchased the one set to begin with because I wanted to see how I liked the design before buying the four set. I am very pleased with this product and recommend it highly.

Oneida Satin Aquarius 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

Beautiful Set
I registered for this set when I got married. I have not received a full set yet, but I have a few place settings and the serving pieces. It is really beautiful. I love the look of the twisted handle, and the satin feel makes it so much more elegant. It coordinated great with my wine glasses, which have twists on the stems. I know that these pieces will be with me for many years to come, making all my gatherings better.

Perfect
We registered for this pattern when we were married 7 years ago, and they've been in constant daily use since then. We wash them in the dishwasher, and store them in a drawer, and there isn't a mark on them.

I've just bought another two place settings to bring us up to 8 to match our new dishes.

Absolutely The Best
Oneida Satin Aquarius is absolutely the best flatware set that I have ever seen or used. The quality is A-1, and the style will compliment any decor. I happen to miss a salad fork and a dinner fork from my service for four. I wanted my set to be complete, so I ordered the 5-piece place setting to replace my missing pieces. I can always use an extra knife, table spoon and tea spoon. I am disappointed though that this style has been discontinued...

Oneida Sheraton 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

5 Stars ONLY If Made In The USA!
The Sheraton stainless that was made in the USA is simply exquisite and easily rivals any sterling set and I would highly highly recommend those. However, I recently purchased service for 4 from Oneida through Amazon. Big disappointment. Although Oneida failed to mention where the flatware was made on their website, when it arrived a 1" bar code sticker affixed to back of the box stated in very tiny print "Made In Indonesia" and after examining the set I found serious flaws.

The beautiful detail of the Sheraton pattern was not evenly imprinted. There were areas on the knives, forks and spoons where the pattern actually became lighter and then invisible. I have never seen anything like this! In addition the Oneida mark was not done well at all. It was much too large and garish and actually interfered with the pattern even tho it was on the reverse side. The Oneida mark on the Made in USA set was very fine, subtle and tastefully done.

It is sad to see such a lack...

Stands the test of time
I've had the same 5 5-piece place settings for the last 12 years. Anytime we eat out or at other people's houses I always notice the difference. I'm 36 but with arthritis. The pieces have a good weight and rounded barrel, so they're fairly easy to hold. They're not heavy; they're not weightless. They are easy to care for, simple and elegant looking. I love this pattern!

My only complaint is that they're cold in the morning, but that's just because they're metal. LOL!

I bought some rubber coated flatware from IKEA about 4.5 years ago and they've literally fallen into pieces.

A great find in Flatware
I have an obsession with tableware - and often buy odds and ends of flatware or silverware just to enjoy it. Such is the case with Sheraton. I have had just a few pieces for years and they are by FAR my favorite pieces to hold and to use. I'm completing my set now because I know for a fact that this set will always look and feel the nicest of any flatware available. That's saying something from me!

Oneida Michelangelo 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

Big disappointment. 18/10 made in USA, heirloom collection
Oneida got the 18/10 right and the serving pieces are beautiful. Perhaps the larger size of the serving pieces allowed them more room to embelish the pattern more fully. Their large serving pieces earn five stars for a stainless pattern.

However, the 5 piece place settings are a HUGE disappointment. They do not have a nice hand feel to them. They are not well balanced and they look "cheap." The Michelangelo stainless pattern is squished up and lacks depth due to the smaller scale.

The forks and spoons are not in the Continental size. This is okay, but they just are NOT comfortable in the hand and they lack the elegance of a well made set. Perhaps Continental sizing for the place settings would have allowed a better presentation of the pattern design. The quality of the workmanship is fine, the pattern detail on the five piece place settings is flawed. This is a design issue.

The discontinued STERLING Michelangelo pattern is awesome! This stainless...

Slightly Disappointed
If I were looking at this place setting for the first time I might like it. However comparing it with my stainless steel set purchased in the 1970's, I am slightly disappointed. The length is the same, but the balance of the spoon is not quite right. The look of the new setting is not as nice as the original, as it lacks the same quality of detail. I am obliged to keep the new setting because I need a replacement, but I must say that the Oneida company should have the same pride in their product now as they did then.

Lovely, but really should be hand washed
I really like this pattern. I have some pieces that are older than others. Over time, the have gotten off-color a bit because of the dishwasher. I understand that the manufacturer recommends hand-washing, but in 2007 they've got to be kidding. I machine wash these and am very happy with them.

Oneida Camlynn 53-piece Flatware Set, Service for 8

Heavy weight, nice finish, and attractive.
I looked and looked for months trying to decide on new flatware and finally decided to give this set a try. Amazon's price and the bonus 24-piece set I got for free made it hard to turn down.

When I first opened these, my immediate reaction was , "Whoa, these are HUGE!" I wasn't sure about the continental size, it made our old stuff look like toys... my teenage son, in his usual cynical manner, commented that these must have been designed for "ham-fisted eaters."

It's now a couple of weeks later, and I can say that we've all adapted to the size, and I'm growing to enjoy this set more and more. It suits the large Dansk dishes we have, and really does look nice on the table. We always use a dishwasher and they come out perfectly shiny and spotless, as long as they haven't been "over-crowded" with too many pieces crammed into the basket. When we had a particularly large load, a few had waterspots, but they immediately went away when I handwashed and dried them.

If you're looking...

Substantial, nice, a few small problems
As other reviewers have noted, the pattern is rather large and sturdy in its construction. Great for a larger set of dishes. The pattern is also rather sleek.

Some of the cons that I see are:

1. The brushed part of the pattern scratches a bit, which leaves a new-looking shiny line in between a slightly scratched surface.

2. Watermarks are left on the brushed metal sometimes when they come out of the dishwasher, but not on the shiny part.

3. The manufacturing of this product was inconsistent.

#3 explained:

The pattern has slight grooves between the shiny line and matte sides to make the difference stand out. However, the set that I initially received had some pieces with the groove, some with none at all, making a smooth transition from the shiny portion to the matted portion. Even some individual pieces had one side with the correct pattern and the other side with the defect.

I investigated using the 25 year warranty from Oneida to replace the defective...

Very Substantial Flatware
This flatware is very high quality. The pieces are heavy weight and solid with a satin finish that is even and smooth. They are truly oversized, European scale pieces: the salad forks in this set were as big as the dinner forks in my old Oneida set. I expected something more delicate and was a bit surprised by their size and weight but have decided to keep them because the quality is obvious and the pieces have a nice, substantial feel in your hand.

The design is simple and attractive. It is versatile and would compliment all but the most geometric tableware patterns. The price is outstanding for the set. The weight and quality were so much greater than the sets I had seen in stores for the same price that I was truly surprised when I unpacked the box. If I had not known the price of this flatware I would have guessed it to be far more expensive than it is.
